Welcome to TagTally! This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data
when you use the TagTally mobile application.
1. Permissions & Data Collection
Camera & Location
- Camera: Used to scan price tags and recognize text. Images are processed locally and in the cloud.
- Location: Used to detect nearby stores and enhance your shopping experience.
- You can revoke these permissions anytime in your device settings.
Data We Collect
We collect and store:
- Your shopping data (items, prices, receipts)
- Account information (email, authentication data)
- Device information and usage analytics
- Location data (when enabled)
- Advertising-related data when ads are shown (see Advertising), such as advertising identifiers and ad interaction data collected by Google AdMob and its partners
2. How We Use Your Data
- To provide and improve the app's functionality
- To sync your data across devices
- To enhance machine learning models (using anonymized data; personally identifiable information (PII) is removed or masked before being used for model training)
- To provide customer support
- To display and measure in-app advertisements (see Advertising)
3. Data Storage & Security
- Data is stored securely using Firebase (Google Cloud)
- We use industry-standard security measures
- Your shopping session data in your account is not sold to third parties. Advertising partners may process ad-related data as described in Advertising; that is separate from your stored shopping history
- Data Retention Policy: We retain data according to our data retention policy. When you delete your account, we will delete your personal data from our active systems. However, we retain backup data for up to 90 days after account deletion for security and compliance purposes, after which it is permanently deleted.
4. Third-Party Services
TagTally uses:
- Firebase (Google) for authentication, storage, and analytics
- Google ML Kit for text recognition
- Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads) for in-app advertising
- These services have their own privacy policies
5. Advertising (Google AdMob)
TagTally displays ads through Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK), including banner ads on some screens
and interstitial ads after you complete a shopping session.
Data used for advertising
When ads are requested, displayed, or interacted with, Google and its advertising partners may collect and use information from your device, including:
- Advertising ID (IDFA on iOS / Google Advertising ID on Android) and other device identifiers
- IP address, device type, operating system, language, and approximate location derived from IP
- Ad delivery and interaction data (for example, impressions and clicks)
- Diagnostic data related to ad serving
This data may be used to deliver, measure, and improve ads; for fraud prevention; and, where permitted by law and your device settings, to personalize ads.
Third-party partners and Google policies
Ads may be served by Google and third-party ad networks in Google's advertising ecosystem. See also:
Your choices
You can limit ad tracking or reset your advertising identifier in device settings:
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking (and Settings → Privacy → Apple Advertising)
- Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads (labels may vary by device)

Sale of personal information: TagTally does not sell your personal information.
Ad partners process data to show ads in the app, which we disclose here for transparency.
Children: TagTally is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 or knowingly serve interest-based advertising to them.
6. Your Privacy Rights
- You own your shopping data and content
- You can delete your account and data anytime through app settings
- You can export your data
- You can opt out of location services
- Regulatory Rights: If you are located in the European Union (EU), you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, and object to processing of your personal data. If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt-out of the sale of personal information (TagTally does not sell personal information).
